While talking to some of my young women today, we were discussing what fun things we could do to celebrate the date of 10/10/10. Besides the ten big snickerdoodles I have ready as a surprise, I thought I would count some blessings. (in no particular order)
1. Family dinner. Hey, I'm impressed that this function can be called together at 2:30 and be so delicious by 5:30. It's amazing. And tasty. But the family is the best part. :)
2. Neighbors. I am happy I'm getting to know my neighbors, and not because they provide the occasional egg or cup of shortening, but for the sense of home I'm starting to feel as we chat and serve each other.
3. Work. It can be crazy, but I'm grateful we have what we need. I'm also grateful for it because it ties in perfectly with my next item...
4. Service. I don't remember the exact title of the lesson today in the marriage class, but the discussion led me to count the many small acts of service my husband does for me all the time that just make life better. (like when he does dishes with me...I feel like I sound really wifey, but Ad points out it's good I don't sound Husbandy)
5. Laughter. Especially that of children. I taught our neighbor boy who's about 2 the peel-peel Bananas cheer tonight. He demanded as many repeat performances as I'd provide.
This is Ad's
6. A wife who is excited when I come home (Sue: I usually jump on him)
7. Medical school interviews. They make me feel like I have a chance!
8. Callings. They provide great opportunity to not only serve, but get to know people.
9. Good friends. They still like to have me around, even though I'm married. They'll even come outside and play Frisbee with us lovebirds.
10. Conference. Definitely a good measuring stick.
We'll keep counting; Thanksgiving is coming up soon.
