I'm not sure how many of you have heard of Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band, but I've decided one of my new favorite songs is "Dream Big". It's been played on the radio, but more so in the car (thanks for the cd player Diana and Shane!) since John's purchase of their recently released cd, of which John claims will never grow weary. So we listen to it pretty much all the time in the car now. Anyway, I really agree with the idea of the song; that we need to constantly be hoping for and striving toward the best. This applies to what we want to become and what we want to do. It's easy to be caught up in the day to day and forget the great goals we are working to achieve. I appreciate that this song focuses on little, everyday things as well as a greater perspective. I'm amazed by what people accomplish and really appreciated the reminder in General Conference that we have power and agency to direct our own course. Like President Hinckley once said, this song reminds me "Limitless is your potential. Magnificent is your future." Here's the lyrics, but it's much better to listen.
Dream Big - Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband
When you cry be sure to dry your eyes,
cause better days are sure to come.
And when you smile be sure to smile wide,
and don't let them know that they have won.
And when you walk, walk with pride,
and don't show the hurt inside,
because the pain will soon be gone.
Chorus:
And when you dream, dream big,
As big as the ocean blue.
Cause when you dream it might come true.
So When you dream, dream big.
And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud,
cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty
all around and in yourself, it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength
to help to carry on when the troubles come your way.
Chorus
And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud,
'cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all
around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to
help to carry on when the troubles come your way.

As Sue has stated, I really like the entire CD, especially that song. In fact I'm going to listen to it right now! I encourage everyone to go to wal-mart and buy the CD (the name of the cd is also dream big)
I dream of Jeannie with the light brown hair.
I also really like that song. It is actually the first song by Brian Shupe and the Rubberband that I've heard. It tells me I've been missing something good for the years I've heard of them, but not listened to them.
I heard of Ryan Shupe about a year ago when our local radio station out here in CT did an interview with them. I was thrilled when they said they were LDS and I also fell in love with Dream Big and have included the lyrics in the boys scrapbooks. Great taste, Sue! It really is a great song.
PS I liked the song too. Thanks for sharing it.
Sue, did you get lost? Are you sleeping and having a good dream? Are you done with finals yet?
